Haris Kotsoglou ▪ Polyomino

Visual Communication & Design Systems

I am Haris Kotsoglou, a multidisciplinary visual communication designer based in Athens, Greece.

After working for almost two decades (2003–2022) in design agencies and publishing houses, handling a wide variety of projects for multinational corporations, cultural organizations, startups, Non-Governmental organizations, artists, teams and individuals, I decided to start fresh:

Enter Polyomino, a no-nonsense creative experiment, aimed to explore new forms of working, thinking and living creatively.

The core principles of my work are actually quite simple: I combine static or moving images, color, text and sound to evoke emotional responses and describe situations, products, events and ideas.

My role is to research, evaluate, coordinate and deliver distinctive design systems and brand identities that combine effectiveness, functionality and impactful aesthetics, handling the design and production process from A to Z in challenging environments.

* A polyomino is a plane geometric figure formed by joining one or more equal squares edge to edge. Polyominoes are used in statistical physics and as puzzles in recreational mathematics. Solving a polyomino puzzle is a lot like designing: the purpose is to creatively achieve a specific goal by following given constraints and using finite resources.
